Sounds like that cop was trespassing on private property with no valid reason.

Then the police chief goes off on the guy for posting the ticket on facebook.

Its not illegal for him to do that so the police chief should STFU... That's if I really cared about this.

You should beat your wife in front of your trailer home and see if this argument holds in court.

How is that? Breaking the law in plain view of an officer isn't the same in both instances?

Beating your wife on the front lawn vs warming your car because it's freezing outside.

You nailed it! Keep up the good work. You'll fit right in around here.

This happens a lot in Georgia especially in high crime areas. It to keep the car from getting stolen and yes, I understand there are safeguards against that from happening.

Would be interesting to have someone follow the cops of this city around to see how many times they leave their patrol cars running and unattended. Cops do that all the time. I used to work for a locksmith company that would open police cars from free when they locked their keys inside. We would get called all the time for that and the cars were usually still running.

It's against the law to leave the car running with the keys in the ignition in that county or city. The person is breaking the law. Don't like the law, get together as citizens and peacefully protest/ ask county government to change it

against the law in germany, but for environmental reasons. I know several folks that have gotten tickets for this.

And one gets you locked up and one gets you a citation. So what's your point? Most police departments I know of in America don't throw laws out because they don't agree with them. Same goes for officers.

But you get to pick and choose what laws to follow. And sometimes this happens.
