Now I understand. I'll have to check with my supervisor. His daughter works in HR, and she is my friend. I'll be sure to talk to them about the training allowance for, what I assume is, future employment opportunities.

. I may get on year round if I keep on it. I am friends with someone in HR who knows how to get me on. Otherwise I will be done here in October.

What would you do for the 6 months or so out of the year the park is closed and inaccessible? I thought all the rangers went off to do other things during that time.

I can work at the ski resort in Whitefish. That's what a lot of seasonals do in the off season. Plus a free ski pass helps with the fun budget.

But they don't pay shite so you're basically skiing part time and working for $10/hr. I haven't gotten paid that low since college, albeit being just 4 years ago.

No, you still don't understand...the training allowance is for your first position with NPS. If your current position is your first with NPS, then you should be eligible for a certain number of training hours which will not be counted toward your limit in this seasonal position of 1039 hours.
It is not for future employment opportunities.

Visited Glacier a couple of years ago and fell in love. Beautiful place.

As someone who sits in a desk and hates the 8-5 grind, I applaud you. I'm working on figuring my way out.
