If you've used a product for year and years it's pretty easy to tell when it's been downgraded.
For example I bought Viva paper towels for a long time b/c they tended to hold up better but in the last year or so I've noticed they don't hold up anywhere near as well and often rip before I've even gotten them fully off the roll. They are no longer worth the price.
Complaints are justified when a company is raising prices but giving you less of or a worse version of a product.
