I noticed the automated "pull up" was in English for the Japanese and Russian pilots too. Why is that?

Google and watch the Phoenix Helicopter crash video. The pilot’s death scream is why I don’t listen to those things.

English is the language of aviation. All air traffic controllers speak it and I assume all pilots across the world speak it outside of say, crop dusters in The Phillipines and things like that.

English is the language of the world. I’ve been to over 25 countries and have never once had an issue regarding language. Seems like no matter where you go, someone will speak English. Maybe that wasn’t the case 30 years ago, but now it’s certainly the case.

Mother fricker that's depressing. I can't imagine how it feels to be in an enclosed aluminum tube knowing you're going down.

Nice subtler brag. What I meant was that English was the OFFICIAL language of aviation. Like it’s agreed upon by some governing international body.

I think the phenomenon is more recently attributed to entertainment media being in English and all being available via the internet.

I had no problem using English only in Europe, Asia, and Africa 40 years ago. 30 years ago about 3 out of 5 Europeans spoke some English.

For sure.

And since then, the amount of English spoken in the world has grown exponentially.

Those weren’t as depressing as I thought they’d be.
