I live in the Canyon Lake Area and have driven on the backbone several times. There is a rest stop that has all kinds of death memorial photos and accessories lining the chain link fence. Kind of like wreck memorials. Its a look out over a beautiful vista. Its a huge expanse of scenic hill country. That's where the Indian battle event supposedly happened.
