If you don’t get it capped ASAP it WILL start to give you trouble and at the most inopportune time. Let them see if there is decay and infection and cap it or get a root canal. I have had a couple of root canals and they are not that bad.

Had this happen a couple of months ago. Root canal was a breeze. Get it done before it develops an abscess.

Had a couple chips in the last year. One was repaired by building back up and the other needed a crown. Go to your dentist. Don't justify inaction based on message board advice.

I just dealt with this. Dentist took xrays and put on crown because I wasn't in pain and the crack didn't look that deep. After the crown was put on the pain started (and it was terrible), so they sent me to an endodontist. The endodontist did a root canal (which wasn't that bad) and then had to go back to the dentist for a permanent filling. $1,000 later, I'm finally pain free.

Pull all your teeth out and offer blow jobs (gummies) on the corner.

1. Go to a dentist 2. Do what he tells you unless you don’t have dental insurance and aren’t in pain 3. There is no 3
3. Feel free to get a second opinion is the recommended actions seem significant and/or costly.
Also my pet peeve: go to an established dentist in an older office as opposed to one in a new nice updated office (that someone’s gotta pay them bills on).

I cracked a bottom tooth two up from where my wisdom tooth used to be. Eventually it got a cavity and caused all kind of problems. It got infected which was one of the worst things I've dealt with and had to do antibiotics before they could do the root canal.
Doing a root canal at Baton Rouge root canal specialists was the best dental decision I've ever made. The procedure is a little weird feeling, but not bad and that tooth will never hurt again. The horror stories about root canals are not real in my experience.
The more important thing is making sure you have a good dentist to do the crown. My crown has come off a couple times because the dentist I used later did a shitty job.
