I lived in China for about 7 months for work. Outside of the 1st tier cities and a few national parks, China really is a giant asshoe and there's no places worth visiting outside of those places. I'm talking about litter everywhere and people taking a dump on the streets. They're literally the opposite of the Japanese, which was the cleanest place.
