TD, not being sensitive. Tone is lost in text.
The community becomes better by helping everyone be their best. Not by bring the best down to rest of the group. These schools continue to develop the best.

You make good points and I truly don't wholeheartedly disagree with you.
I try to look at it with an outside lense because I know I'm getting out of this state. I look at it as "yea, they have a terrible public school system there (and we all know the reasons why) but it won't get better until the collective shows the throw-aways how to actually function"
Maybe that's asking other people to sacrifice their children's education for the better of the state's long term, which I know is unideal, but if we were ever to get to a workable education level for the entire state, we might start electing competent representatives. Fixing Louisiana is a 50 year process, at least.

Grad schools, yes. We also (particularly me) took a pretty sizeable pay cut to go back to school because I left a job that was good but volatile. Louisiana offered economic leniency when taking income into account.
We can live cheaply here, but it's not where either of us want to he long-term.

Not sure we have any highly ranked public grad school programs here in Louisiana
