I'm 45 and had it done when I was 43. Tingling in thumb, index, and middle finger of right hand. Surgeon chose the more invasive style of surgery (scar is about 1.5" long from wrist towards palm at heel of hand) that way he could completely cut the transverse carpal ligament and remove it. He did it this way so it could not reattach. I've had some relief, but not great but that's due to other nerve damage. I can now "pass" the paper clip test at least.
