Better argument would be comparing Audi to VW
Only on a model or two. If you buy Audi or Porsche you can always find parts stamped VW-XXXXXXXX on your car but that means little. Hell, my 1989 944S2 has parts with the VW part stamp on them.
The extra finish and engineering makes a huge difference.

Audi to VW is definitely the more apt comparison. The other guy beinging up Porsche and Ferrari was a little off base.
I made that comparison not from the engineering perspective but rather the perception of the brands.
Porsche and Ferrari both had its roots in pedestrian modes of transportation and morphed into what they are today.
You can knock Lexus for not being a driver's car, but to scoff at the notion of it being a luxury car is absurd.

That's what I didn't get wit Patrick Bateman's post. Lexus is head and shoulders above anything Toyota has in their lineup. back in the day you could say it was nothing more than rebranding, but that's just not the case anymore. The ES is built off the Avalon, but after that, you're dealing with completely different cars with much better materials used etc.

I agree with everything you're saying. It was just funny that you went with 911 turbo to a Jetta
Yeah, a bit of a stretch lol. I was trying to think of a top of the line VW but came up short...CC maybe??
Posted on 9/8/14 at 7:53 am to jordan21210
CC is the most expensive sedan, with the twaaaaarg being the top SUV.

I'll give you that...
But not this:
Porsche, maybe, since it's roots are in the Beetle. But Ferrari has always had a racing pedigree.
I don't mind Lexus, to be honest. I think they're going the right way in differing Lexus from Toyota. Infiniti too, to an extent. The worse is Acura. My buddy has an Accord and some people I work with have Acura TLX's (I think)...interiors are identical. Lots of plastic too...it's bad..though I'm sure longevity is more their thing.

45k used? Why not buy new?
My two buys for 45k would be 4runner limited 4x4 or acura mdx
Also two models don't fit below

What is the deal with everyone in the world having a sticker across their entire back windshield that says "richardshonda.com" ?
Do they get some kind of discount for being a moving advertisement?

The guy is single with no kids; why drive a boring car when he doesn't have to? I do agree the Genesis and Equus be eliminated - because they're also boring as hell.

They're extremely easy to remove, but people are lazy. My car came with a Walkerautomotive.com sticker; I peeled it off in their parking lot.

Why stop there? Why not buy a $5k car and invest $40k?

Doubtful, they just know that most people are too lazy to remove a sticker, so they get free advertising all over.

you still looking at a new Tahoe?
Posted on 9/8/14 at 8:37 am to theBeard
4Runner is awesome. The only problem with them is the front end styling on the new models. Hopefully Toyota corrects that soon.
Posted on 9/8/14 at 8:38 am to member12
agree the sr5 frontends look like crap, the limited is much better.
I am trying to decide on a new suv in the next couple months. Looking at sequoia, LR4 (I know they are shitty but always wanted one), lexus gx 460
