Can somebody please explain why there is still a rush on groceries?

The mass hysteria grocery shopping should have ended already and everyone returning back to a normal shopping schedule. Why is there still lines at places and items out of stock?

I haven’t seen TP in weeks.

The EBT card users shop the first week of the month.

Because my mom keeps buying toilet paper. Because even though she has enough, now she’s buying it for me. Because I can’t find any. Because the people like her are buying it all. Because they aren’t essential workers and I guess have shite else to do besides hoard groceries.

Because we are exclusively eating at home?

Prairieville Rouses was well stocked yesterday morning except for the dawn TP isle. Only limited amounts off brand TP and paper towels

When do you go and where? Small grocery near me in BR has had it every time I’ve been there but I go early

It’s pretty normal around my house after all the spring breakers left. Everything back in stock. Still some limits on paper products but they have the big packs in stock so no big deal.

Because most restaurants are closed?

Afternoons. Kroger and my neighborhood grocery store.

There is going to be a rush on groceries as long as restaurants are cut off at the knees.

Stupidity and panic buying.

I have saved money the past two weeks. I have not swiped my AMEX once in 14 days...likely the longest of my adult life. Every meal at home, eating frozen meats and canned veggies that have been in their for months, no extreme needs for anything wild. I likely will go tomorrow just to get some eggs and milk, but aside from that, its fine.

Because I can't go to dinner and have been cooking non stop.
