I did some work for a bank, carried the check around in my billfold for nearly a year. When I finally tried to deposit it they wouldn't cash the old check, they had to issue me a new one. On their own account.

Wrong. Every bank has their own policy of what’s considered “stale dated.”
Longest I’ve seen is 6 months.

We deposited a year old state farm refund check a while back. Hubs says no issues.
