Calling relatives on Christmas

Who else feels like the phone weighs 10 tons when it's time to call relatives on Christmas? I felt like the guilt was crushing me until I just made all of the calls. It turns out they didn't want to talk either and the call lasted 1 minute. If you are holding off, just pull the trigger.

I hate the expectation to talk on holidays. Playing pass the phone when the family calls grandma (who refuses to travel for Christmas) is always the worst.

How ever painful it is they will eventually die. A simple phone call/visit is worth putting down a new gift.

All of my close family was at my house today. Everyone else got a text

Funny...I thought I was the only one who procrastinated on this kind of thing

I don't like calling on Christmas because it's obvious you're only calling because it's Christmas. Also everyone's super busy and no one really wants to talk.

What if you visited family for Christmas before Christmas? Is it still an expectation to call for Christmas or are you exempt?

Man I was over at girlfriends house today and her mom had to call her dad which she hadn't spoken to in years. Very awkward to hear that conversation

Why would she HAVE to do that?
Doesn't a divorce mean you really don't have to talk anymore
Unless they have small kids, you would have to communicate to shuffle them around
