quote:you are very lucky. I am a mechanic and damn near every customer of mine that has this motor has had the lifter collapse. shite, even 3 of my fellow employees have had the post 07 model 5.3's and all 3 of theirs have had the issue. Swapping out the cam and installing LS7 lifters and deactivating the AFM is the way to go.
Never had a problem with mine. If you are concerned, then get the 4.8L or the 3/4 ton with the 6.0L.

The good ole CHEVROLET saying. Cheap Heap Every Valve Rattles Oil Leaks Every Time.
'01 tundra salvage title at 105,000 miles now 265,000. Still runs strong. Double over head cam timing belt changed by OWNER (some said it was tricky lmao)
Just because one is a Salvaged vehicle doesnt always mean it's a bad apple. There are some out there that can stay on the road with proper maintenance than ones that have never had a report.

It has 130k miles and a fricked up title and you think 10k is good for it?
That same truck with a clean title would probably bring close to $15k around here. Rebuilt title is usually 65-75% of clean title. Sounds fair to me.

If you buy that truck you're the biggest idiot on this board and that's saying something

I would personally pass on this vehicle. Too much of a financial risk given the age and title status. If they will take 6K then we would be in business

A two generations old truck with 130k miles will bring $15k where you are? I don't believe you. It's not even a crew cab or SLT. No chance that thing is worth anywhere close to $15k. With a clean title it might be worth $10k, at most.
