I'm not all that familiar with Butch but his nephew Derek is an awesome guitarist.

Butch was the drummer for the ABB. Or the main drummer anyway, IMO.
So if you've heard the ABB, you're familiar with Butch.
I saw Derek playing with the ABB several years back. He was legit.

I met Derek's dad at the Tahoe show in Sept 2016. He sells t-shirts and CDs for the Trucks Band...cool guy!

There was no obvious COD which led some to speculate that he may have committed suicide. I've been looking all day and there still hasn't been any confirmation one way or the other. Most reports just say that the COD is under investigation and that foul play is not suspected. I certainly hope it turns out not to be the case.
