Just left Pixels at the BR Mall...5 cop cars and about 10 officers inside the theater.

I would have left the Pixels part out. That movie looks awful.

Waste of time and of tax payer money. I'm sure there were plenty of volunteers for the easy overtime sitting in a movie theatre.

You wanna pay $50 to go see a movie to pay for such security measures?

well what is the answer? with all these crazies walking around who any day may decide that it would be a good idea to slaughter a group of innocent people just trying to enjoy a nice night out.

More cops isn't the answer.

More citizens paying attention to their surroundings is.

[quote]I don't either. Those 2 ladies seated directly in front of that nut wouldn't have had a chance unless a cop was seated right next to him. In fact the cop may have been his first victim. Why aren't there metal detectors at the entrances of movie theaters with shite like this happening so often now??[/quote

Is this the world you want to live in? Every public place we go from now on we have to go through metal detectors?? Hell, that's prison, not living. Count me out.

The quote I answered to was (paraphrasing)

quote:

I don't think having more police presence is the answer

To which I answered, I don't know.
What is the answer? How do you keep these nuts from entering a crowed venue, be it a theater, school, or whatever with a weapon? Because once they are inside with something easily hidden like a pistol, bad things are going to happen, and it's likely people will be hurt or killed before anything can be done about it. Even with police presence, because these nuts don't care if they are killed in the process. that shite happens so fast. being aware of your surroundings can only go so far.

While I agree with you in principal, I doubt
situational awareness would have saved those two ladies at the Grand.

How many armed people are in a movie theater in Baton Rouge at any given time? My wife and I talked about this several times before. i told her if something ever happened there would be at least three leagal or illegal fighting back.

So they will temporarily divert their resources from the high crime areas where they always have checkpoints like Perkins Road, Corporate Blvd and Kenilworth Parkway? That will cause some lost revenue.

You want to find BRPD or the Sheriffs, you go 45 down rebuilt Staring Lane on a weekday morning. You'll be seeing them all soon enough.
