No. I have seen word for word, several times in the OT, that "slavery was not the reason"

Correct, but the supposedly important "Cornerstone" speech is cited as support for the assertion that was all that it was about and states rights/state sovereignty is just a facade.

Yep that's very possible . I just wish that people would realize that most of us who have a problem with her pulling the flag down are not defending what the flag stood/stands for but defending the right of SC to fly it ...... It is part of their history , good or bad

That isn't what I said at all actually. I admitted other reasons, but I said slavery was the MAIN reason.

quote:

You can argue that the war was fought for more than just slavery, but the Confederate leaders openly admitted it was the main reason from breaking from the union.

So tell me where I said it was all about slavery? I'm fully aware of other issues the South had including a legit gripe due to tariffs

It may have been for some. You can't say it was for all.

Many in the South didn't want to secede at all.

The whole situation was very complicated. Simplistic over-generalizations do not do it justice.

That is true for anything really. You don't have to either when talking about the Confederate states as a whole.

Well technically, that flag is not extremely popular either. People burn it.

Its obviously offensive to certain people, so we should just take it down.

*see how stupid that sounds?*

I've read most of this thread, and have not seen where any poster's opinion has been changed by another poster on how they feel about race relations. And most but not all of what is being called "racist comments" are in my opinion directed at members of society that are total waste to society.

If a human being no matter what race or color is a piece of shite and a threat to society and they can't or won't be fixed, than why would anyone want to coexist with them? That's just being real, not racist.

Skillet, when talking about racism common sense Is not wildly used... It is easier for the folks with pager avitars to say you're racist if you say something that they don't agree with.

Scoring points for his side is all that matters. Just like monsterballads lies about the flag at the SC grounds and tuscaloosa's blindly believing, while claiming to be an excellent history teacher. Facts be damned.

So this ends racism? What flag do we take down to get the blacks to stop killing each other every day?

Has this been answered yet?
