Is it worth any package deal "savings"? Anything to be looking out for?

I've noticed savings when booking air and hotel through Expedia but don't see any when just booking one of the two. Just compare and see.

I'm reading some reviews of hotels that patrons were "overbooked" and they had booked on booking.com for example. Hadn't thought about it but now I'm concerned we could get "bumped" on a flight or pushed out due to "overbooking" at the hotel.
The price difference is like $400 - 500. Not poor but not OT rich but would rather have more money for while we're there.

I've used priceline for flights. Had no problems whatsoever other than making my connecting flights too close together. I had to haul arse from one plane to the next, barely getting there before boarding ended.
eta- and Travelocity for hotel. Again, no problems at all.
