Blower wheel is going out on home hvac unit how much to expect to repair?

Home ac started making crazy loud vibrating noise over the weekend. Had a tech come out to take a look and he says the blower wheel is going out. Anyone had this replaced before? Just trying to prepare my self in advanced. He says it's not super common, and The parts house was closed so he will Have to call and get a price on the part in the morning.

If you are talking about the blower fan motor on the outside unit, its not too bad. Mine went out about 3 weeks ago and it was around $300 to repair. He had to change the capacitor as well since the new motor called for a different capacitance.

Mine went out about a month ago. They changed the blower motor and had to come back and change the wheel as well. Expect around $500.

If they replace, get new bearings and flanges as well

Its still pretty much the same fan motor. You are probably talking about the squirrel cage fan motor.
Still should be 300-400

You probably need a new flux capacitor also.

They can do the TK-421 modification in house

I'm thinking $300 in parts and probably $50 in labor. You can do the math.

My blower motor went out last summer. I think it was $400

The typical blower wheel is 40 to 80 bucks but they do not normally go out. If the motor is needed, it is probably not much more than 100 bucks on normal unit.
Not a terribly difficult job. Turn off power, little bit of sweat, few curse words and you are done. Watch some youtube videos and see if it is something you would be comfortable doing.

Not a huge repair. You could save yourself a few hundreds of dollars by doing it yourself if you have moderate electrical knowledge.
A can of penetrating fluid and a wooden mallet are going to be good friends when getting the squirrel cage off the motor shaft.
Or you could spend a few more bucks and get a fan motor puller tool.

Mine went out last year and I had a friend replace it for a few hundred bucks. Don't procrastinate and let it go completely out, though or it will tear a bunch of other stuff up and the price will be higher.
