So some random person didn't believe she was something she said she was...happens all the time to a lot of people...white, young, old, black. Asian.

That's not discrimination, that's somebody's opinion and perception in that moment.

Its not like the airline said she couldn't get on the plane because she was black.

You have a random stranger saying she is a doctor and another random person didn't believe her. I could say I'm an NFL player on a plane.

Putting aside this story, picking a doctor is one area where discrimination is advised.

You are a lot more likely to get a bottom of the class dreg if you select a black doctor due to affirmative action.

"Discrimination" is actually not a bad word. "Discriminating taste" is good.

I am sure her attitude played a part more than anything else. As we can see, that attitude is till in full force. She wants publicity, to play the "victim", wants Delta to give her free miles, etc.

Affirmative action gets you admitted. It doesn't get you through it.

This is a messed up story. The flight attendant should be fired.

No. The woman should let it go and move on with her life. I have similar academic credentials to her and I've been treated like Radio on many occasions.

Black people, especially women, don't become MDs at the same rate as other demographics. She should take it as a badge of honor.

This

To say this story is "discrimination" is like saying calling someone black is racist.

She said she was a doctor. ONE person didn't believe her.

How is this news?

I tell people I'm a doctor. I look young. They don't believe me.

So Age-ist

Good point. The woman is 1) young, 2), black, 3) female. Most people will likely assume she is full of shite.
