I went for my first (and only) time for three days and two nights, post-Covid. I drove, stopping at Tannehill Ironworks Historical State Park, Birmingham, and Tuscaloosa, Alabama on the way up. When in Nashville, I stayed near the airport to save money on a hotel. Next time I go, I'm flying in and paying more to stay near the downtown, because the city really is a destination unto itself.
My traveling companion and I did have a Black gentleman comment on the Louisiana license plates on her car, just in passing while filling up at a gas station Sunday morning before leaving. He was a Louisiana ex-pat who left the New Orleans area after Katrina and said he still owned a house on the West Bank in Jefferson Parish. I don't remember exactly what else he said, and it was a brief conversation, but my impression was he did not seem to miss living in Louisiana.

There are 236 black peoples where you live... less than 1% of the population.
Do, tell us more!
