Big "BOOM" Heard In NC

At about 6:30 this evening a large boom was heard where I live in Wilmington, NC. Then about 16 minutes later, the house shook.

Keep in mind my travels and I lived in Cuba where marines bombing shook my house. So I don't panic easy.

This boom did not sound like any military thing I have heard.It is hard to explain.

The entire area of Wilmington to Leland NC called 911.

On the FOX early news we just heard the reports and they reported they contacted the local police/authorities and no plane crashes, nothing unusual in the 100 mile radius including Army and Marine bases and the historical Fort Story and the U.S.S. North Carolina.

The reporter actually said, it was a natural phenomena called Seneca Guns.

I googled, "Boom heard in Wilmington NC" and got this.

Apparently the same exact thing happened in 05.

One theory is a natural phenomena called Seneca Guns. It's never been fully explained but people along the coast have talked about it for centuries. Some say the sound originates when chunks of the continental shelf drop into the Atlantic Ocean.

It doesn't just happen along the coast. In fact, the name comes from Seneca Lake in New York where the big booms have been heard for years.

Five years ago, the Seneca Guns fired here. A scientist from UNCW said the rumbling came from the ocean, and there were various theories but no rock solid explanation. He said there was nothing to worry about. It was just noise. No one was hurt then and no damage was recorded.

Only God knows, what that boom was but it freaked me out.
