Bidding on a brass eagle lectern at the New Orleans Auction Galleries

Dang, up to 1700 already. That was quick. Oh well. Next time. All of this Iowa plumber's stuff is going really high.

Sold for 1800. 25% buyers premium and 10% tax means this went for about $2500. Still a great bargain. Wish I hadn't gone all out for the Christmas decorations this year. Might have been able to afford it then.

It's English. I was in NY for an auction a few years ago when a similar went for nearly $12,000.

And I was already fantasizing about having nightly Bible readings from this St. John lectern. If I didn't have morals I'd try to obscond with it! Just kidding :-)

A little brass polish would have this looking like a million dollars. Hopefully it doesn't end up in some godless restaurants as a hostess podium.


Listed height is 78.25". I have it at 70" on the nose.

Eagles face looks tardy, wouldn't give 25.00 for it.

Sorry, this isn't mass produced made in China normal-faced material. It's a beautiful antique piece for sure. I regret not getting it.
