As usual, the obsession with race masks the main policy issue raised by this otherwise local story - should a police officer be reaching into a car to try to grab the keys from a suspect who is about to flee in his car?

It's just ridiculous that some of you can't acknowledge that the officer's actions were at the very least impulsive and excessive.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
With all the shite that has gone down in the last year between cops and civilians, this is like playing Russian roulette. Not saying I condone the actions of the police officer, but stupid is what stupid does. He was a tpos that should have been on permanent address. The breakdown in the judicial system is ultimately to blame.

nothing else matters...guilty...case closed.
Exactly, and the cop was never "dragged", never, not even for an inch. Now maybe he shot him predicting that he would be dragged, maybe he was going to charge him with "attempted dragging".

Really, the saddest part, Dubose (driver) only had to do what he was told by this officer and we'd have one less display of ignorance in the media today. Im not clearing the officer by any means... but, if one doesn't feel the need to act an arse, two men have their lives today.
