Taking the girlfriend and I up for the Braves-Rays series in a few weeks and need advice on best areas to stay in/best food/interesting things to do. Been to the area few times when I did high school debate and we went to the Emory tournament but don’t remember much besides going to the varsity so any advice is appreciated

I'd stay around Sandy Spring/Perimeter Mall area or N. Druid Hills. Lots of Hilton Properties/restaurants around both of those areas. Close enough to the Braves stadium/short drive/and short drive to Downtown stuff, but you can get the hell out and not have to stay downtown.
Also, check out the GA Aquarium GA Aquarium
and Atlanta Station/Shops/restaurants if you see anything that looks good to you
Atlantic Station

What was once a hidden gem is now the worst part of ATL. I browsed r/ATL once and I was baffled by the amount of fools who sky scream to defund the police and that Buckhead doesn’t deserve to be it’s own city because they have to fund the rest of ATL

Stay at the Omni at the battery if you can. Night life at the battery is the new buckhead. Especially game weekends. At the battery you have the best pizza in Atlanta (Antico)... although the original is downtown and a little better, it’s still fantastic at the battery. Also have some of the best tacos in the city right next door (tacos la Villa). Pho Dakao is next door to la Villa and was on DDD but honestly I’ve never been that impressed when I’ve gone. Can’t believe he didn’t go to tacos la Villa while he was there. The absolute best Lengua tacos. Putt shack just opened and is a cool little date night thing right now. Always have East Atlanta Village or Little 5 you can walk around a little bit. For a great breakfast I’d recommend homegrown, probably 25-30 from the stadium. Get the comfy chicken if you go. Lots of great food though all around the city so really just depends what y’all want.

We’re both a bit of foodies so I will literally take any suggestion. Been spoiled with good food lately with her living and working down in New Orleans so always on the lookout for a good local spot

I’ve lived here my whole life. Been around every part of the city from dope houses in college park to 5 million $ mansions on west paces and never once have I feared for my life or been threatened. Obviously don’t go to the fricking west end at 2 am as a white dude in khakis and Sperrys but if you’re not an absolute idiot you don’t need a gun.

Y’all can spend the day at six flags or if you like history y’all can visit Mt Kennesaw where a major battle of the civil war occurred. I’m attending the Braves-Marlins game in a couple weeks. This is my 1st time at their new ballpark so I’m excited.

Same Johnny. Went to Turner field a handful of times growing up but haven’t been to the new one yet. Pretty excited to see it.

Canoe if you want a date night vibe. Hal’s or Bones for a steakhouse experience. Umi for sushi. All of those you’ll need reservations. Ones I mentioned earlier aren’t needed. Homegrown will absolutely be on a wait anything after 9am on the weekend. Up to hour or hour 30. Buford Highway has some outstanding ethnic food.

Some of the restaurants at the top of the pack rn in Atlanta are Miller Union, Spring(not far from stadium), kimball house, octopus bar, Ticonderoga club, Gunshow, the optimist, general Muir, one eared stag, la tavola... it really just keeps going. Atlanta is such a great food town and really just keeps getting better. Look some of those up and see what fits your desired atmosphere because the food will be great at any of them

Sweetwater is the most well known and always a good time. Usually have live bands on weekends and they actually have some good food now too. Their philly bulgogi is damn good.

The beltline is a great place to have a walk or rent a scooter and go down it. New realm brewery is on the beltline and has a cool rooftop to look over the city. Right next to that there is also two urban licks with fantastic food.

1. The Aquarium...there's just nothing better
2. For the weird: puppet museum
3. For the nerds: gigabytes cafe
4. For the sports fan: College Football Hall of Fame

I’m not familiar with any breweries but Blue Moon has several pizza restaurants in the area. IMO I like their pizza.

Agree stay at the battery if you can. Lots to do there.

I’ll agree with all the restaurants just mentioned. I’ll add a couple more.

Heirloom BBQ is not far from the battery and is a good Korean bbq joint.
Yakitori Jinbei is nearby and was featured on diners drive ins and dives and is good.
Iberian Pig is good. Pork cheek tacos for the win.
Ormsby’s is a cool gastro pub with a lot of bar games and is a cool area in the Westside provisions district. Painted Duck is similar.
Bone Garden Cantina is great Mexican also in that westside area.
Aria is legit good fine dining.

If you have to go to a mall go during the day and probably choose Phipps rather than Lenox

I would skip Atlantic station.

Varasanos, Antico, Fellinis, Varuni Napoli, Carlos are all head and shoulders above Blue Moon. While not terrible I wouldn’t even put it top 10 of Atlanta pizza.
