The early to mid 70’s were light years different from the early to mid 80’s

In the key ways WRT defining a generation, they’re similar. Let’s look at driving:

By the time the 1970’s came about cars were cheap enough and reliable enough that kids would (and could) start driving independently from parent oversight (no cell phones or GPS). Yes the cars changed from muscle car types to Japanese imports in the 80’s and 90’s.

In the late 90’s and early 00’s a transition happens, where most new drivers have never driven without a cell phone. So this transition is right around birth year 1985. By the time you get to birth year 1990 you start running into new drivers that have never driven without a cell phone or GPS.

It would be a rare occurrence now for a 16 year old to have their car break down somewhere and be completely unable to make the necessary calls to get themselves out of it or being unable to tell anyone where they’re at.

Boomers are gonna go down as quite possibly the worst generation ever created, Greatest forgot to do their job as parents after they got back. Boomers created Xers and Millennials. They are just all around shite.

I grew up in the 80's. I'm 55. Born in 67. I'm Gen X I think.

Yeah i think that's about the Age Gen X started. I was born early 70's but to truly grow up in a decade i dont consider ages 2-8 really growing up. You kind of just doing what your parents tell you to do. I mean i remember the little things like Saturday morning Cartoons etc.. True independence i'd say starts around 10 so id say i really grew in the 80's and boy was it AWESOME!!! Most of us really did raise ourselves parents were usually never home when you got home from school. You feed yourself did choirs etc.. You were usually turned loose for the weekend.

Summers were spent at the park playing baseball, basketball , swimming at the river, playing in the woods, walking the malls. There was nothing on TV other than CBS,NBC, and ABC so that was a no go. You basically made something out of nothing to occupy your time. I truly think the 80's was the best decade ever when it came to growing up as a kid.

LOL Boomers a close second?

You seem like the type of boomer who likes the hard times -> strong men -> good times -> weak men thing to criticize younger generations, yet don't realize your parents were the strong men who created the good times that you weak men took over and have been turning to shite for 50 years.

The 2003 championship was won by xennials. That’s kind of when we returned to prominence.
