I’ve heard that there are concerns about the drinking water all along hwy 22 from madisonville to pontchatoula because of a now defunct creosote plant just outside of Madisonville that polluted the ground water.
Maybe just drink bottled water to be safe

The plant was located on the now empty field south of Hwy 22 right before the Dollar General. It has a small metal building and a grand old oak tree.

I just want to give a big 'frick you' to all those people who buy in Tangi, right past the parish line. They don't do anything in Tangi, except live there. As soon as they hop in their cars, it's straight into St. Tammany. Much of the congestion on Hwy 22 is from Tangi residence driving through. They move there so they don't have to pay St. Tammany taxes, but use St. Tammany roads and resources.
This is straight idiotic on multiple levels.

And now a subdivision with 300-400k homes surrounds it.

I looked, but ended up in Lake Orleans closer to Ponchatoula. Nothing wrong with it, Cookie Cutter like everything else in the whole area.
There are a dozen or so custom built neighborhoods down HWY 22 West of Ponchatoula.
They're going to be 15-20 years old now though.
