I also remember we got a field trip to Angola during high school—took a tour of death row with DTL present, the chair, the mess hall, etc. Think the admin thought we were starting to act up.

Also recall folks saying DTL’s former house is visible on US 61 in Star Hill, just south of St Francisville.

Who has any connections or memory of Derek Todd Lee and Shawn Gillis?

No connections but me and a buddy got pulled over in his old white pickup and were surrounded by 8-10 police cars in a local Baton Rouge neighborhood when DTL was terrorizing BR. It was a crazy shite but when they realized we were little scrawny high school kids they understood it wasn’t us. We were scared they were going to find the alcohol in the truck but they didn’t search the truck thankfully

Had to do the swab.

If memory serves me the task force had all that DNA in a database and didn’t want to destroy it. The had over 2000 DNA samples. Some people had to sue. The courts finally ruled it all had to be destroyed.

As my recollection it was not destroyed. Maybe some ‘could have been’ all were not

Heading noth on 61 after crossing Thompson Creek there is a kind of lime green house on the left almost to the top of the first hill. Have always been told that was his house.

Randy Mebruer was her name. I was a shampoo girl at a salon off of Perkins when I was a student at LSU. She used to get her hair done there and we became friends. She gave me all of her son’s baby clothes when my first child was born. Incredibly sweet woman. It is believed he killed her in her bed. Sure wish they would have found her so her family could have closure.

I came across this story on YouTube discussing a missing LSU freshman named Eleanor Parker in 1981. She had just graduated from Lee High and was working at Godchaux's where her car was found. Some people made the assumption that a young SVG had something to do with it because he stayed right down the street from her parents where she had just gotten some clothes from. That was the last time her parents saw her.
