Got one on Jefferson highway, sent them an appeal since I was 5 lanes over, they wrote me a letter back saying the ticket had been dropped.

Ive heard a lot of gripe and complaining about the way these tickets are being given (really stretching the law) and about the company keeping most of the profit being from Texas.

Are all of these tickets being dropped now? Didn't think they would just drop it without making me at least go to court or pay some portion of it.

I hate the cameras they use for fines as they are harder to fight when a mistake is made. But people shouldn't pass school buses.

I agree, but mine was on Jefferson highway headed the opposite direction 4 lanes over, when looking at the road I didn't even see it.

The only ones that were dropped were those given to people on highways separated by a middle turning lane.

Louisiana law is contradictory regarding such streets- one law says you have to stop, whereas another says that such streets are to be treated as a median divided highway, which would mean you would not have to stop for a bus going the opposite direction.

I got a ticket back in November and was all set to argue my case this past April. Week before was when they threw out all the cases with similar circumstances, and I got a call saying I did not have to appear and that it had been dropped.

As for the whole camera thing as a whole. . . I'm okay if the police want to sit out and catch people and write tickets, but when they outsource the whole process to a 3rd party civilian company just looking to make a profit. . .

My fine was $300 and out of that, the police and school board were getting $50. The rest went to the company that owned and operated the cameras- what a bunch of BS.

Didn't know tickets to ride school buses were available to purchase.

I posted links to the law in that thread somewhere as it pertains to when to stop for school buses and the legal definition of a "divided highway"

(ETA: SEE POST BELOW)

That being said, I got one on Jefferson in Feb, sent the appeal, didn't hear from them for months. They sent me a letter rescheduling my court date (a date which they did not disclose). Made several calls which got no answer. Eventually I found out they had dropped it completely.

Dude, the cops don't have time to give us tickets for that. They are needed on the front line catching those seat belt violators with expired inspection stickers...
