Ya it is a lot of fun to watch. I guess if I truly had FU money I would get some for fun but that's not in the cards at the moment.

I'd bid on a vintage 60s Mustang if anything .. But I wouldn't invest in a car .. That's just me .. I lost too much on baseball cards ..

They had cars for every price range there. I saw cars that sold for as low at 10K there up to the major ones that sold for millions.
That would be a fun way to buy a classic car though. Course, some of the cars aren't that old. I would see a random Mercedes or bmw or Mustang that was only a few years old for sale in the tents. I'm sure there was some significance to them, but looked like normal cars to me.

Did you and B consider finding a little circa 1905-1912 jalopy to climb in the backseat of and recreate the Titanic sex scene ?

I would like a Corvette from that same time-frame but I wouldn't consider it an investment since I would want to drive it all of the time. And I agree with the baseball cards. I was going through my storage unit a few months ago and found all of my Garbage Pail Kids and they are actually worth quite a bit, it surprised me when I saw how much.

Also can still not believe the random guys standing by us when we were taking pics that opened the door to that million dollar Mercedes gullwing like it was some random car at a dealership. They should have been kicked out the show. We were surprised that car wasn't roped off.

I have a ton of old Topps football cards from the late 60s and early 70s -- Tarkenton, the entire Steel Curtain, OJ's rookie card ..
, etc. .. In baseball, I held on to the Upper Deck shite too long .. Garbage Pails are worth $$$ now ..

That's where I am. I wouldn't sink a bunch of money into mine to sit around and just look at it. I bought it to take out on weekends and tour the countryside. It isn't an investment though I don't think I'll lose any money on it.
*Thanks for posting the pics nurse. Maybe it's a good thing I'm not there.

I have the entire 58 topps baseball set and every set from 68 to like 90 for baseball. The only good football card I have is OJs second year.

During the auctions they even show what the monthly payments would be on all the cars on that screen I posted...including the really expensive ones.

That '57 set and any old '78 Yankees sets should still pull a few coins .. Do you have a Thurman Munson ?
Posted on 1/18/15 at 4:10 pm to TigahRag
Sorry. Its actually 58 and I meant 68, not 78, I am a little buzzed. Yes I have Munson, I have the entire set! :lol
ETA: I don't even look up what the 58 set is worth since I would never sell it. My dad put a lot of work into finding all of the cards when I was a kid and he has passed away.

a minimum of a 30K credit line to be a bidder
I would think most of the OT would easily qualify for that.
I didn't get chance to watch much of it, were the sales reaching the expectations? I know a lot of these vehicles are the 'best of the best'.

You've got some very nice cards, then ..
Posted on 1/18/15 at 4:16 pm to TigahRag
Ya see my edit, its actually the 58 and then every set from 68 on. A FEW of the cards in the 58 set have the players #s written on the front but for the most part its very nice. I keep it in my place in a book you can flip through, all of the other sets are in storage.

From what my husband was saying....some of the bigger cars seem to go for less than you would expect them to go. Ex: The Mercedes gullwing had a million dollar bid on it...and reserve wasn't met. I think many expected that car to go for MUCH more. The seller obviously decided to negotiate later on with top bidder and it went for 1.1 million. We saw another vehicle that went for 80K that the announcer said was easily worth 3 times that much. For the cars that had no reserve that went so low...I almost felt bad for the sellers getting so low for the cars. Then I remembered if they are buying/selling cars of that level...they aren't that worried about it
