For the record, you couldn't force me to go to a gender reveal party at gunpoint, but if chicks want to do that, IDGAF. No worse than a wedding/baby shower or other method to grub up some gifts.

The whole purpose of these parties is to have people witness you take a picture of the box opening with the balloons, and to put the pic on Facebook. If Facebook didn't exist, would these parties exist? They certainly wouldn't happen as often as they do now.

I think Pinterest has more responsibility than Facebook for these parties. Facebook just directed more people to Pinterest.
