Think about it though. Some take it too seriously but college is the first freedom a kid has generally. You meet all these people that have your back all the time. It's no different than a career you have passion for. You do it with all your heart. Stupid. Potentially but the quality of taking it to far is what future employers want. The laws of physics don't stop at the college doors to stop douche bags from existing. But I would venture the vast majority aren't bad folks.

I was only in one at a small school to meet girls. 1 year, when I came to lsu I didn't affiliate. Just my 2 cents

1. This guy's death is terrible. I hope the people responsible are punished as severely as the law allows. Phi Delt should be kicked off campus never to return.

2. This should not be an indictment of the greek system as a whole. There are fraternities that never get in trouble and do not haze. I was in a fraternity 30 years ago and was never hazed one time. It was a great experience and I am still friends with many people.

3. The Greek system should return to pre-game parties at Fraternity Houses, and most parties also at Fraternity Houses. There is more oversight by the school and rules regarding alcohol can be enforced.

The drinking rules at LSU fraternities made the following changes over the last few decades: (My timeline may be slightly off)

Pre-1988: No drinking rules, (beer trucks, hard liquor, jungle juice, all allowed)
1989-1990: No hard liquor, no jungle juice, keg beer allowed

1990-1998: Canned beer only

1998-present: Alcohol basically banned from fraternity parties.

I left LSU in the early 90s, so my info after that may be wrong.

Our house parties/events from 2009-2013 definitely had alcohol.

19 deaths in 7 years which pushing out hundreds of thousands of people a year. pretty good stat if you ask me.

I went through this while in school. on of my pledge brothers died. it sucked. Prayers to everyone involved.

How is any statistic other than 0 deaths acceptable when it comes to hazing. I was greek, but there's no fricking reason to defend this type of shite

Basically only 3rd party vendors at houses now. Kids are a little less apt to get hammered spending $5 a pop for a Bud Light.
