Appliances are all built like shite now. My grandparents house that we still own has a 30+ year old ac unit, deep freezer, refrigerator, stove and oven. All of the new stuff is crap.

Is your drain large enough to keep up with the inflow in the case you have a blowout?


Ours wasn't. Wife noticed water coming from the light in our bedroom just before work. The tank blew off its drain valve. The pan was overflowing and the water was actually shooting right to/over the edge of the pan (oops...but I didn't install it). Had this happened 10 minutes or so later, I would have been looking at about 8 hours of flow over my master suite and a hallway. I'm sure once the initial 50g drained the pan would have been more useful, but I didn't test it.
There's a tankless heater there now.


I wish I could say I was smart enough to have gone and replaced, tested, or put a leak detector device/system on my other tank in the attic, but I'm not that smart.
