No answer will work for you, you try and replace the word religion with terms like “shared faith”

I’ve never used the phrase “shared faith” here, or elsewhere. Feel free to point it out, if you’d like.

I think you’re having a perception or projection problem. I have treated everyone I’ve exchanged with here with respect. I have stated my points, and supported my beliefs. I have challenged others beliefs, but not unfairly, or arbitrarily.

quote:

You need to look up the definition of religion, because if you’re a Christian, You’re part of one whether you like it or not.

Disagree. Faith is a personal belief in God, His Son Jesus, and the salvation that comes in believing in Him, and living your life accordingly. Religion is a construct of man, and has nothing whatever to do with any of that. Faith is what God wants from us, religion is what man wants. My opinion, of course.

[Verse 1]
You built me up with your wishing hell
I didn't have to sell you
You threw your money in the pissing well
You do just what they tell you

[Pre-Chorus]
Repent, that's what I'm talking about
I shed the skin to feed the fake
Repent, that's what I'm talking about
Whose mistake am I, anyway?

[Chorus]
Cut the head off
Grows back hard
I am the Hydra
Now you'll see your star

[Verse 2]
Prick your finger, it is done
The moon has now eclipsed the sun
The angel has spread it's wings
The time has come for bitter things

You sure waste a lot of energy showing your anger towards the Catholic Church. will pray for you, brother.

I appreciate the prayers. I need them as much as anyone. The only anger I harbor for the Catholic Church stems from it’s complicity in destroying the lives of children from unforgivable abuse that could have been prevented, if the church lived up to what it purports to be. I’m sorry if that is a problem, but much of the church hierarchy all the way to the pope deserve no mercy, and no respect. The response of the church and most of the hierarchy is a disgrace to mankind, and criminal, in my opinion.

Hey al_cajun what church you go to for that sermon? Yes the scandals don’t need to be ignored, but Christmas mass doesn’t seem to be the appropriate time to go there.

I would love to hear your explaination of how faith still exists in 2219 if all knowledge and traces of religion disappeared today.

Well, that’s a really odd hypothetical that never would or could happen, so I’m not really inclined to spend much time pondering it. I just don’t believe religion is necessary, and in many cases even helpful, to salvation. Jesus made it all pretty simple. Almost all of the production that has become accepted as part and parcel with salvation is little more than a show for the benefit of whatever religion a person buys into.

Hiding? It's in plain sight. Some Catholic priests are better than others, but none of them are driving $75K cars and living in million dollar houses and flying gulfstreams. The coverups the church did were awful and completely inexcusable, but they were done in a warped manner to protect the mother church. Whereas, in many of these religions, people are just trying to get rich.

Covering up child rape is WAY more acceptable than trying to get rich!

You saying “shared faith” in this exact thread

I’m starting to think you have had a TBI at some point.

I don’t know what TBI is, but maybe so! I sure didn’t remember that. My apologies.

Feel free to elaborate on how you didn’t just contradict your previous post.

The failure of religion will not make all knowledge or traces of religion suddenly disappear.

I can't imagine being in the shoes of these parents. I am sure there may have been some desire to put it in the past as quickly as possible, and try to move on from it - for the sake of the child. Child probably is sentenced to a lifetime of grief and counseling as it is... do you really want to have to put your child on the stand?

If you got enough money to restart your child's life elsewhere and pay for the emotional therapy, I can see where it might be a tempting offer.

Yes, it prolonged it. But I'm not sure I'm ready to condemn the parents here. I would imagine every single one of them would gladly give back the "hush money" if this never would have happened to their child.

Your sole purpose on this earth if you have them, is to protect your children, defend them, and if possible avenge them. Taking hush money is the exact opposite of that. I don't give a frick if it restarts your life and pays for therapy. Nothing is going to make it go away, and it's your duty as a parent to frick someone up if this is your situation. So you go after the people who did it. Legally of course. I would much rather public executions. Then sue the frick out of them.
