Sitting in Court today waiting for a hearing. Guy comes up to plead guilty to animal cruelty, first offense. The facts: had two pits on a one foot chain and both were very emaciated. When the dogs were seized, the sheriff's deputies took them to a vet who rated them at "condition 1" (the worst condition) and so both dogs had to be euthanized.

He paid a fine and is on a short probation. I think the Judge thought about rejecting the plea. If I had been the Judge, I would have maxed him (six months in jail).

I'm not a fan of pits, but f some guy who starves them. Apparently, they were walking skeletons.

You live in University Park. I saw a smaller dog on a one foot chain, no water, in town and called on it. Next day, 3 foot chain and water.

I am just relating what the D.A. read. But, I'm not surprised. Ghetto trash want a pit to show off, and they often take atrocious care of them.

Only a degenerate Johnny Jones fan would do something like this.

Seriously, it has been shown over and over that those that commit animal cruelty will commit other crimes.
I think stiff penalties should be given.

I agree. The max for a first offense is six months. I would have loved for him to have some jail time.

I just looked up his local criminal history - convicted of burglary a few years ago.

this is on arnaudville road. This street view must be from a while ago because the conditions for the pitts has degraded quite a bit. The dogs are on 10 or so ft long chains and in open front wooden boxes. Right in plain sight of the road.

I found the guy's facebook page - photo of an underfed pit that generated this comment calling him out:

"that sum bullshite rite here mane thats one poor azz mut on da real dow u aint had to put that dog busy out like that mane u wrong!!!u wrong...damn boi:"

It also looks like he has sold some pits. Lots of dogs on chains, but most look to be 4-5 feet in the pictures.
