I damn sure don't do it for the pay. I do it because I love you, I love America and all she stands for. Not just on the 4th of July but everyday because if it weren't for everyday sailors, soldiers, and marines. There would be no more day of independence to celebrate. Appreciate those that serve, we are the -%1 that don't wish we had served...we serve!

Here you go Mr. Been In The Navy Since Breakfast Guy:

quote:

Pronounced "dig-it". US Navy slang for someone who "digs" the Navy, usually an insult. Often preceded by some sort of profanity. Digits are commonly seen with "digit tools" (leatherman's) and a flashlight on their belts, even if they never use them. Junior digits are usually arse-kissers, while senior digits generally cause their guys to work late.

I honestly would not want military service to be mandatory. I've seen PLENTY of kids come and go from the military because they couldn't get their act together. The military isn't for everyone, so there is no need in trying to make it for everyone. I'll be damned if I get stuck next to some guy who despises the military downrange.

I love how people try to say they would have served in the military order to make themselves feel better. As a current active duty personnel, I resent the notion that you (generalization) think that you can do what I/we do. Appreciate those that serve, we are the -%1 that don't wish we had served...we serve!

Jesus you couldn't have come off more as a complete douche. The general public is NOT going to worship the ground you walk on because you hold a job that any civilian could hold, but you wear a uniform instead. In all actuality, every job in the military could be done by a civilian. Your JOB is different than what you may be asked to do down range. Your JOB is not super awesome combat guy. You have a regular job (electrician, computer geek, etc.) All of the jobs can be performed by a civilian with the proper clearance, paperwork, etc.

Then you should have taken the ASVAB a little more seriously.
