Thanks for the clarification, I knew I was going to screw up those companies and company camps. As far as Montegut, I was thinking about the Humble Canal that eventually became Exxon.

I wasn’t even born when all that happened.

One connection I do remember is that my grandfather used to run supplies for Texaco on small wooden boats inshore around Leeville. Eventually when he got older and Texaco pulled out of those fields he was able to buy his boat and turned it into a Shrimping boat.

You are correct there. It went through the Lirette Field. I just feel that Texaco had a larger presence and impact. Humble/ ESSO/Exxon did have a large impact on Montegut as did oysters and shrimp.

We were Shell for many years.
I cut grass to make money as a kid and there was a Shell station a few blocks away. I rode a bike there to get fuel and the guy running the place was always amused by my efforts and was generally a really good person. When I went to LSU, I got a Shell gas card due to those memories. I later married a woman whose father worked for Shell so we were a Shell family for many years.

Sadly, Shell has treated the station owners/ operators pretty badly and has let a few regional operators run stations very poorly - so they have lost a lot of the good will that we once felt toward them.

We are now leaning to the cheap-is-good concept of buying gas.

... Shell
worked at headquarters in Houston at the start of the joint venture with Canada. Then transfered to New Orleans to run seismic in the Gulf.
