housemate watches 40 year old reruns of murder she wrote. Its supposed to mostly happen in downeast Maine, some coastal village.
The urban center is Boston.
One or two lesser characters try to have the accent. Most have no accent.

I learned General American in Speech 101 at Mcneese.
Before that I had a typical New York metro Jew accent and was delighted to learn that speech 101 was not only giving speeches.

Pretty soon people were expressing surprise when they learned of my origins.

Iowan or Nebraskan Valley Girlese has already taken over all the major US cities. It's impossible to tell where one is at, if you close your eyes.
