Agree with this. I have a Planet 120, been up for around 5 years. Live rock, soft corals, haven’t done a water change in 3 years. RODI water only for top off, keep an eye on the specific gravity, and don’t over feed. Tank runs itself. Expensive to get going but after 1-2 years the only expensive thing you have to watch out for is the next fish you want! ??

That being said, anyone want a 120 with a Trigger sump? The older I get the more it feels like an anchor… Going on vacations and storms here in SWLA have me ready to get out and try again later…

It's both and as you see OP it's addictive. I started with a 10 then got a 10 long, then a 25 long, ended up getting a 50 long and thinking that was it but ended up getting a 75 long. Alot of work!! I kept African Cichlids and had a few rare ones. My favorite of all was my Frontiosa, he was just cool as fk.

Its work and it can get expensive but they're so tranquil to watch and just cool

Salt water fish only or with coral?

I loved my reef tank but buying rodi water and hauling water got annoying

You are keeping water quality not fish

Here’s a suggestion. Get you a twenty gallon tank and fill it with pond water. Then net you some baby perch, catfish, etc. and put them in the tank. Start with fish food and when they grow start feeding them worms. They are hardy little fish!

I love it when a couple of the bigger fish try to stalk, and bully me into feeding them early ...
