-Originally posted on tech board, but not many bites-

I recently purchased an Apple Watch 3 from a friend (got a very good deal).

What are some ways to maximize its functions?

What are some features you like to use?

If any professional pilots are monitoring this, how do you use it in Aviation?

TIA

Depends on what applications you use.

Starbucks app is convenient as is the Delta app.

Does it have GPS + Cellular (will have a red dot on the side of the dial)?

Do you have a MacBook? Airpods?

My vivosmart scratches all the time but it was only $70. Couldn't imagine the angst of scratching that expensive piece.

Tracking cardio is great. I don't have a problem with it keeping tabs on my heart rate.

Weight training is a whole different animal. It sometimes registers my heart rate around 45-55 which I know can't be right. Especially on free weights like bench press and incline.

The nice thing is that the next version of watchOS is supposed to automatically track a workout if you forget to open the workout app on the watch. Well, we'll see when it comes out.

I like to frequently look at the time and gauge that against the time I'm supposed to be somewhere or do something.

Contact your cell phone provider. For $10/mo you can have your watch work without being near your iPhone. Great for running/working out.

Also if you swim it is water resistant.

Not as many as I would have though, hence the good deal.

Had mine for a year, got it at 270 without tax I believe new. Just resold for 200 a year later, didn't have a noticeable scratch on it.
