I like their smaller library. I get overhwhelmed on Netflix and Prime for me is an afterthought. It's not an option in my mind to go to unless I want to rent or buy a movie.

I'd add Presumed Innocent, Hijack, The Crowded Room, Defending Jacob, The Last Thing He Told Me, Prime Target and one of my absolute favorites ever, Echo 3. If you love special ops stuff, Echo 3 was awesome. Same guy that did The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty wrote this one as well. Great show...just one 10 episode season though.

Apple TV is easily the best in the business in terms of quality content. Paramount is next, mostly because of all of the Taylor Sheridan stuff.

Apple bet on high quality content

Netflix bet on volume

Volume won and that is not a surprise

Apple's actual content shits on everyone else. Severance is some of the best TV of all time.

Get one or two streaming services at a time and swap it up monthly. There is no reason to carry them all at the same time.

exactly what I do. I don't have that much free time. Also, Tubi and Youtube Movies keeps me busy.

Apple TV is watched a lot because of Ted Lasso and a few of their other series that are decent, but we are running out of things to watch there. They are in danger of being canceled if they can't generate new, quality content.
I find their shows to be awesome, but there is so little there that interests me.

Money would have been better spent bringing in more and better software team including thru acquisitions as well more money towards research and development.

Their initial Apple TV focus for years was only including Apple content. They should have lowered production costs especially with the movies and use additional money to purchase an existing service and library of content at the time. Outside of including a group of movies in 2024 and maybe for some fraggle rock & The Peanuts they don’t have enough added content on top of their own content.

Also initially it was thought spending so much would be balanced by additional customers it brings in and by product placement in the content. Spending way too much to still be losing so much money several years into service, and it’s not really encouraging people to choose Apple over other platforms especially now that there is an appleTV app for the other platforms. The people buying Apple are or were likely going to buy Apple anyway and were then getting several months of streaming for free which is taking away profit from those hardware sales to move over to Appletv revenue when free months used by the customers.

There is only so much time in the day to watch all of this content. We’ve got Netflix, Prime, Disney+ (for the toddler), and Paramount+ and even that is way too much for how little time that we can spend watching stuff.

Add in live sports and YouTube/podcasts and it’s impossible to watch even just the good stuff

Thinking about dropping the D+/Hulu/ESPN Verizon bundle next month. They are going from $10mnth to $15/month. And since it's spring/summer we won't need it much anyway.

We get Paramount through Walmart+. And just got 2 years of Netflix through Dish at the country house.

The only thing we are paying for is Max. The HGTV and Discovery stuff is worth it.

Also If I am reading this correctly, DTV stream is offering a sports package for $70/month. I will try that when football season starts.
