I've got an old WWII AAF bomber jacket that belonged to a friend's dad who gave it to me after his dad passed, just looked at it, they called it an A-2, no fleece on the collar, looks pretty much look Colonel Hogan's, still in good shape, I wear it maybe once a year, hope this helps

Won’t be selling it anytime soon.
I just did a search for his obit and found out he’s buried at Riverside National Cemetery, which used to be called Department of Veterans Affairs National Cemetery.
I need to do some research on him and my grandpa.

Culinary Specialist First Class. Did he use to be a SEAL, got in trouble, demoted to cook, but then had to save the ship from terrorists?

Refer to them as ships, not boats.

Unless you are a Naval Aviator, the carrier is “the boat”.

all of the guys that I work with who are or are former Naval Aviators call it the boat, very rarely will they use the term ship

To 99.9% of the people on carriers, it was the boat.

I have both of Dad's USMC flight jackets. The fur had some moth action, but they are otherwise in worn but good shape. One is early 50's and one is WWII vintage. One has an old squadron patch.
