My middle name only follows my first name when I’m in big trouble.

My wife goes by her middle name because she's from Alabama and that's what they do for some reason.
My son goes by his middle name because he has my name. I was fine with calling him by our first name, but his mother is from Alabama, and that's what they do for some reason.

I just call people chief, ace, big guy, Tiger, slugger, when speaking to them.
