I'll bet you are one of those that would just take them out back and put a slug in their head and maybe...if you were feeling nice that day, dig a hole
Absolutely. If it can't give me grandkids nor will it outlive me(bring me to the Dr when I'm old), it goes down if it gets too fricked up to fix for <=$300.
I would not dig a hole though. Trashbag is plenty.

Both of our dogs are over 7 yrs old now and about 3 yrs ago we opened up a savings account for them.To each his own but we just could not see paying premiums over savings account, but i do understand some having insurance on special breeds that are prone to having problems.

Same here for my Mutt. Good to hear it worked out for you!
Luckily have not had to make a claim yet but I have it for basically the same reason. Catastrophic accidents that would potentially put a huge dent in liquid savings.

If my dog gets really sick or injured I will just make an anonymous call to the cops when nobody is home. I can't bring myself to shoot my own dog.

I do have pet insurance through Banfield Vet hospital. We love it! We pay about $35 per month and it is great when the dogs go to their every 6 month check-up and we don't pay one dime.

So if someone has a family member that needs surgery costing $1,000's but thanks to paying $20 - $30 a month they wind up only paying $100's that makes them a moron?
my dog isn't a family member....it's a dog that can be replaced fairly cheap

I don't but I wish I had. My super healthy, never cost me more than yearly shots/heartworn meds broke her leg in January for around $4000+ dollars and I'm still paying it off.
Care credit gives you a year to pay it off before it rapes you with 30% interest

There is a lot of these types of statements getting thrown around in this thread. I'm not sure if it's e-badass bravado or genuine robotic apathy towards your pets.
If this is your honest opinion, then you shouldn't have pets. What is the point in keeping the animal if you don't care about it anyway?

So i guess it's back to my question...why do you even own the dog if you don't care about it?

cause it hasn't died yet.
bought before had kids etc and just don't have enough time to devote to her. kids play with her a little bit... but never would i have ever spend thousands of dollars on medical bills on any dog. i don't get some people.

so you spent $800 on a dog you don't care to own and is more of an inconvenience to you than anything? Seems a bit short sighted but whatever tickles your pickle
