I’m not a huge holistic advocate, but i definitely feel rejuvenated and relaxed afterward.

You are definitely alone in your head and a lot of people cant handle that. I have terrible tinnitus so I use headphones to dull that down.

So, bringing some tunes might be a good idea it sounds like.

I do it a couple of times a year and I feel incredible afterwards, its not a bad thing to disconnect from all the sensory shite going on around you, its like a rest button.

But its not for everybody, the first time I went a dude freaked the frick out.

If I dont the ringing is amplified a 100 times, I usually do rain sounds or something relaxing.

The whole point is to be sensory deprived. Absolute slience. Bringing music defeats the purpose.

I’ve been. Definitely “lower tier”. Basically bath tub tanks. Still get the effect, but don’t expect to see some high end tank like you may see when researching.

I did one float tank session several years back. The place I went to had a larger, higher quality tank and a cheaper, small pod. I didn't know that at the time and got put in the cheap pod that didn't 100% seal out the light (I could see light coming through along the outline of the door/hatch I entered through). It also didn't block sound very well and I could hear someone hammering something in the next room. So, I didn't get the proper sensory deprivation experience.

I complained and was offered a free session in the better tank... Didn't get a chance to take them up on it, so can't say how much better it would have been, but my experience would make me shy away from places that use cheap tanks. If you don't have a choice where you live and it's a place like Fleauxt or nothing, then I guess I might consider it... I'd just make it a point to lower my expectations going in.

I wrote a longer version of this a couple years back in a similar thread...

... this link is pg 3 of an old thread. I also noted issues with getting my neck comfortable. The poster, keakdasneak, offered some good advice for inexperienced floaters just below my post with regards to getting comfortable and other factors to optimize the experience.

Very relaxing, 45 minutes in the tank = 6 hours sleep.

I’ve done the sensory deprivation water bath thing at a message parlor. Had a hard time staying afloat in the salt water but I’m kind of an idiot.

My son opened a business in Hammond and I floated a couple of times. I went into a deep sleep and had a few lucid dreams. Each float lasted an hour and you knew it was over when the pump kicked on. It felt like you had been resting for hours. The feeling of weightlessness was awesome. Unfortunately the business had to close. But one of his tanks is in Covington. Do it if you get the chance. You must totally relax your body when you float. The first time I did it i was very tense at first. The second time I did it, I was more relaxed and it was even better.

NOLA afloat tanks is awful. In a closet in a yoga studio. The floating itself was nice but the environment left a lot to be desired.
