Rotator cuff surgery. Rehab was fine. Worst part for me was waiting for the nerve block to wear off. That sucked

Took about 9 months before I could really feel normal and about 12 months til I could throw the ball around like I did before.

Had a "small" rotator cuff tear, and this was pretty much my experience. I was very diligent with the rehab and it was a bear. Getting full range of motion and flexibility in my rear deltoid was the toughest challenge. Had to force myself to endure the daily discomfort. Otherwise, the recovery would have taken longer.

Around the 9th month, I finally felt "back to normal" and now 2 years removed my surgically repaired shoulder has never felt better.

Definitely get a 2nd opinion to confirm that surgery is the best option. Just plan on that 1st 3-6 months to be miserable. Follow the rehab protocols to a T and you should be fine.

Had it 15 years ago and doing good now. If I was kept in the hospital over night I immediately went on disability the next day. Asked him why they would keep me he said the level of pain. So I'm back in the room waking up slowly and the nurse asks on a scale of 1 - 10 what is your pain level ? 7000 I said.

So they kept me over night, I'm pushing the pain med button getting my fair share. About 9 she comes in and asks if I had pee'd yet. Nope. 3 more times she comes back and says if you can't go in the next 1/2 hour we will have to do something else. NOPE. I tell her if I can stand up I think I can. So she helps me to the bathroom, and I filled the urinal. Second best feeling in the world.

Had it done to the right shoulder in 13 and between the surgery and PT it was about 8 months to get back to normal for me. I spent about a year prior to surgery avoiding it until it became apparent it needed to be done and I don't regret it one bit.

Like others have already said, get the surgery, do the PT like you should and listen to the folks helping you and you should be fine.

My shoulder is now better than ever.

nerve block. SAY YES

I said yes and went into a panic attack because I couldn’t feel myself breathing. The doctor accelerated the anesthesia to keep me sane.

Sounds like a good conservative approach. It will either free up in PT or it won’t. As everyone has said, shoulder surgery is a bitch and the PT sucks arse. However, a year later and you will be very glad you did if it comes to that. Good luck!

I was good with not just jumping to surgery first. I'll be dripping by therapy place tomorrow or Wednesday and see about getting it going. I'm hopeful that will help tremendously
