Anyone ever stained outdoor patio concrete?

Bought a house that has a small concrete slab patio on the side. Its bare bones concrete and isn't very appealing.

How hard is it to stain concrete? Any ideas from experience?

I kind of want to keep it gray because we have gray gravel walk way, but maybe a darker, shinier gray? Or a gray slate pattern or something?

I'm a rookie at this, so be gentle.

It's not hard at all. Just takes time. Has to be cleaned really well, outdoor primer/sealant (some brands have both in the mixture). Two coats or maybe three. Takes a while but it looks good. Did this with my wife's salon.

Which brings me to my next question, should I seal it to protect it from other stains?

Pressure washed I assume?

I have been looking for a reason to buy a pressure washer anyway

Concrete is very porous. So it'll soak up a lot of sealer.

Used this stuff called Zep. It cleans concrete.

When its sealed, does it get real slippery in the rain?

Not that I really care since I'll rarely step foot on it if its raining outside, just curious

It's really easy. Just use a roller on a extension pole.

We stained her indoor concrete but from what I understand the process is similar it just changes which primer/sealer/stainer you use.

We used a brand that did all three but I remember looking for it again for another project and I THINK it was discontinued.

I think I used Eagle Gloss Coat. It's not discontinued but you can only buy it online now, I think.

I had stained concrete floors is a previous house. We loved them but they did require some maintenance. Did you have to wax the floors at wife's salon? My wife did ours once a month or so (maybe longer than that I don't remember). I do recall that right after the wax was applied they looked incredible.

I doubt the outdoor stuff would need to be waxed but IDK.

It's simple. Pressure wash. Go to Home Depot and buy Behr solid concrete stain. It will take twice as much as it states on can. I did the same about 3 years ago and it still looks great

We do about once a month but as you can imagine it's tough when hair is always everywhere. They do require work and care but it's kind of cool knowing you can just add a coat after a good cleaning and boom you have new-looking floors again.

I've got a children's aquatic outdoor play area that requires some serious aesthetic touching up. What do you recommend I do to the concrete? Clean, paint, then seal?

I bet the hair is frustrating a bit. But yes I agree, after the wax is applied they look spectacular.
