Use common sense on the streets and avoid shady people and you will be fine. Internet is legit, if u bring an unlocked phone go to a Claro store and they'll get u hooked up with a Sim card for about 30 dollars for a month of service.

I thought it was nice. It reminded me of a clean New Orleans.

Will I get stabbed, robbed, or kidnapped in Bogota?

Do they have good high speed internets there?

I was mugged by three cops there. So there is a chance of all three I would imagine.

I know Medellin used to be the most dangerous city in the world but I've heard it's gotten better. Don't know anything about Bogota.

I've been and it was a good, not great, experience when compared to other locations in Latin America. For getting around, someone in your group needs to speak a bit of spanish. There were some really sketchy parts and some nice parts. Overall, use common sense and stay on the beaten path. Without knowing for what reason you'll be traveling its hard to give much more than that.

Oh, and it is at about 8600 ft above sea level. The altitude can mess with you after some drinks. And sleeping can be a bit tough the first night if you're coming from ~ sea level.

Lively restaurant/club - "Andres Carne de Res" was pretty cool. For a nice dinner in a more relaxed setting, I recommend Estancia Chica. If you go, enjoy the coffee and the bacon. I swear they make their pigs do aerobics b/c it is so lean and delicious.

I actually lived in Bogota for about a year a few years ago. Its huge and the weather sucks. Imagine a Latin American version of Seattle. Besides that it has its perks. Colombian women are gorgeous and the nightlife is great. Colombian chicks like blue eyed gringos too. Stay away from the hillside barrios. Comparable to Brazilian favelas. Medellin is way better but is smaller and might have less opportunities. I worked for a multi national at tube time and trained our Colombian office as I am fluent in Spanish.
