Must be the easiest money you'll ever make.

Although some places limit your commissions on political ads.

Federal law requires you to give them bottom dollar. So it's basically at cost. If you are on what the feds call "public" airwaves.

So folks that work for any cable news networks are killing it.

Sister did it for WSB radio (Atlanta) in the 80 and 90's and killed it.

I've just been reporting all of his adds as false news so they stop popping up.

Killing it, not really. Not with poli ads. You have no margin there for commission. Lots of volume, low margin.

They'd be happier with car dealership and T Mobile in that ad space.

Cable TV news networks aren't OTA public airwaves.I imagine they charge whatever their normal rates are.

I was told when I was working in Alexandria that one of our sales people had sold $600.000 worth of ads the year before. Commission was 15%. 90K, and they were paying me $200 a week to work the 7-midnight shift.

This was back around 1990ish

yeah, they ain't paying that level of commission any more. Barely paying anyone, and now there's a thing called "programmatic" buying. Basically a computer buys ad time from another computer, and a third computer schedules and plays the ad. Ugh.

When you get billionaires in a pissing contest, deepest pocket wins. IMO, there needs to be a restriction on the amount that be spent. The best candidate gets outspent & goes home while the dummy takes the oath. Then what ?

My Sister made more than that but she worked at the top rated radio station in Atlanta in the 80's/90's.

Have a friend of a friend that works in sales at a sports talk station in Atlanta.I think he does pretty well.

They tried that but the corporatists argued money = speech & the right leaning SCOTUS bought it.
