Unless you are a 5 handicap or lower the ball isn't going to make that much difference.

But you agree that I need a ball to play, right?

I like to shape my shots so higher spin balls are preferable, occasional wayward shot notwithstanding.

I don't really discriminate with balls, and I like to try new ones. Hence the thread.

Generally, if you have lots of clubhead speed and your "bad" shots are way off target, you should stay away from higher spinning balls because they make your bad shots go even farther off target.

I can hit it over fairways and into peoples yards that haven't found balls in their yard before, so i stay away from extra spin

I very rarely have bad shots that are due to incredible spin. My bad shots would be bad with a trick ball that didn't spin at all (E.g. Snap hooks).

I'll have one wtf slice about every 30 holes.

I have about 3-4 wtf chips a round these days.

Skull it to the other side of the green or duff it 3 ft.

Its mind blowing. I will fricking putt from 20 ft off the green to prevent it. When I was around a 4 handicap, I never did that. Chipping was like second nature. Now its all in my head and I frick it up.

If I rid myself of those and just put it within 15 ft of the hole instead (not asking much), I'd shave a lot of strokes off my round.

Also, I cannot for the life of me, lower my ball flight. I hit it HIGH. I also hit it farther than anyone I play with regularly, so its ok until the wind is bad. Then I'm fricking done.

Its that time of year. You're rusty, and playing conditions are extremely inconsistent. You'll get out of it.

What shafts do you play? I changed my iron shafts a few years ago and it has done wonders for this.

I've got very high swing speed and have very stiff steel shadts in my irons. And stiff steel 5 wood.

Its my vertical swing plane and impact. I pop the ball up. Lots of ball spin, lots of height, lots of distance.

But damn it gets up there. I hit my lob wedge about 120 when I swing full and it might take down the moon one day. Honestly, I like it most of the time because my long irons land softly and I can be aggressive with them, but when the conditions get windy, I have a really hard time adjusted without just playing a full on punch shot (which I've gotten good at )

Honestly, its not a huge deal. I've just lost some money with our regular group on a few holes where I misjudged the wind and it carried by ball off the green or far away from my intended landing zone. Probably more about me not being smart tbh.
